A smart and extremely well made antique mahogany bow front console table. It was made in England, it dates from around the 1900-1910 period.

It is of superb quality and has a lovely design, with a bow fronted top standing on tapered legs. There are two generous drawers for storage with brass lions head ring pull handles.

We have had this re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age, with just some normal age related wear here and there beneath the polish. Overall this has a gorgeous patina.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Georgian console tables are characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and refined woodwork, often incorporating architectural details and premium timber veneers.

These tables are typically constructed using solid hardwoods like mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, decorative veneers, and cast brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified through period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, natural timber shrinkage, patination consistent with age, and hand-forged or cast metal fittings.

Pairing a traditional wooden console with modern abstract art, minimalist lamps, or contemporary mirrors creates a balanced, eclectic aesthetic that highlights the historical craftsmanship.

Preserve the wood by keeping it out of direct sunlight, maintaining stable humidity levels, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
