This early nineteenth-century French Empire gueridon table stands as an unusually large centre table, measuring 72 cm high and 113 cm wide. It comprises a circular grey and dark brown marble top set within a Cuban mahogany frame, resting on a central turned and fluted pedestal base. The structure finishes in four carved wooden paw feet fitted with small brass castors. In a modern interior, this grand Regency piece serves as a striking centre table in a spacious entrance hall or reception room, providing a functional surface for a central display. The dark timber and polished stone surfaces show the natural figuring of the wood and marble, while the solid circular design offers a commanding presence for daily use.

Originating in France, a gueridon is a circular centre table supported by a central column or tripod base, frequently incorporating a marble top and classic Empire or Regency style motifs.

These tables typically feature dense hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, paired with carved pedestal stems, solid brass castors, and inset marble or stone tops.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-carved decorative elements, traditional joinery techniques beneath the apron, period-accurate brass castors, and natural age-related wear to the wood finish and stone surface.

A large gueridon table functions effectively as a focal point in an entry foyer, a hall centre table, or as an occasional table in open-plan reception rooms.

Clean the wooden base with a soft cloth and beeswax polish, while maintaining the marble top with pH-neutral stone cleaners to prevent staining and chemical etching.
