By the early 19th century, during the French Empire and Restoration periods, these tables became central features of salon reception rooms, designed to display decorative art objects or hold tea service.

Authentic 19th-century gueridon tables typically feature solid hardwood frames or veneers such as flame mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, combined with thick slab marble tops.
