Treen refers to small, functional or decorative wooden household objects made before the widespread use of plastic, highly prized by collectors for their craftsmanship and patination.

Craftsmen commonly utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, boxwood, walnut, and fruitwoods like plum or sycamore to withstand frequent handling and intricate turning.

Authentication relies on examining the tool marks, the natural oxidisation and wear of the timber, hand-cut joinery, and the clarity or imperfections of early glass lenses.

These pieces integrate well into curated interior schemes when displayed on side tables, open shelving, or desk surfaces alongside other historical artefacts and natural materials.

Preservation requires keeping wooden objects away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, applying microcrystalline wax sparingly, and avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners.
