Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

French console tables originated during the late 17th century under Louis XIV, initially designed as decorative wall-mounted brackets before evolving into freestanding tables supported by legs.

Authentic period pieces typically feature solid hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, frequently complemented by polished marble tops and cast gilt-bronze or brass mounts.

Authentication involves examining traditional joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails, checking for natural wear patterns on the wood and marble, and inspecting the casting quality of any metal mounts.

Placement against a feature wall in a hallway or living room allows the table to function as a focal point, styled simply with minimal modern accessories to contrast the historical design.

Marble surfaces require regular sealing and prompt cleaning of acidic spills to prevent staining, while wooden elements should be dusted with a dry cloth and kept away from direct heat sources.
