We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Eighteenth-century oak furniture is characterised by robust construction, utilitarian designs, and deep patination developed over centuries of use, typical of provincial British cabinet-making.

Pieces from this era were constructed predominantly from solid English oak, frequently utilising traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails for drawers, and wooden pegs.

Authenticity is assessed through surface patination, tool marks consistent with period hand tools, construction methods like hand-cut dovetailing, and the presence of shrinkage splits appropriate for aged timber.

This table contrasts effectively against minimalist modern walls, serving as a functional surface that adds warmth, texture, and historical depth to contemporary living spaces.

Maintain timber condition by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, applying occasional microcrystalline wax to nourish the grain, and avoiding placement near direct heat sources or strong sunlight.
