FAQs

Nineteenth century furniture encompasses various historical revivals and functional developments, drawing inspiration from classical, Gothic, and Renaissance styles while adapting to changing domestic needs.

Cabinet makers predominantly used dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and rosewood, frequently incorporating brass castors and hand-carved details.

Authenticity is identified through traditional joinery methods, natural patina on the timber, hand-turned components, and period-appropriate hardware such as brass castors.

An antique mahogany table provides contrast when paired with minimalist modern seating, or acts as a complementary functional surface in a traditional study.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber without damaging the polish.
