FAQs

Georgian writing tables from the late eighteenth century typically feature symmetrical oval or rectangular tops, elegant tapered legs, and subtle decorative elements such as satinwood stringing inlay or brass drawer pulls.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring tool-embossed leather writing inserts and cast brass hardware or castors.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original brass castors secured to leg ends, natural wear on wood surfaces, and patinated leather inserts with hand-tooled gilded edging.

An antique writing table serves as an elegant focal point when paired with contemporary seating in a home office, library, or living room alcove.

Dust the wooden surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and apply beeswax sparingly, while conditioning the leather insert with specialized leather balm to prevent drying and cracking.
