Description

A lovely antique figured walnut coffee table in the Queen Anne style. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1930’s.

It is of wonderful quality, the circular top has beautiful grain patterns and gadrooned carving around the top edges. It stands on cabriole legs with shell carving at the knees, terminating in claw and ball feet. This is beautifully designed and is a useful size.

We have had it re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. There is just some minor wear remaining beneath the polish, this has a wonderful patina and colour tone.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Figured walnut refers to timber harvested with complex, decorative grain patterns such as burr or crotch, which became highly fashionable in high-end cabinet making during the late 17th century and saw major revivals in the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

Authentic period tables typically feature traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon frames, hand-cut dovetails where applicable, and book-matched or slip-matched veneer applications over secondary woods.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber ageing, hand-tool marks, secondary woods used in the interior or underside, patination, and the consistency of the hand-applied polish.

An antique walnut table provides a grounding focal point in a contemporary room, pairing effectively with minimalist upholstery, neutral textiles, and modern lighting to create a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Antique walnut should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent wood splitting and fading, maintaining its finish with occasional applications of traditional microcrystalline wax.
