This mid 19th-century Scandinavian country bakers table is constructed from pine with a distressed blue and orange painted finish to the base and a scrubbed wooden top. It features a raised moulded border edge around the rectangular top, two deep frieze drawers fitted with small round wooden knobs, and four tapered square legs. Visible details include weathered paintwork with surface wear, exposed natural wood grain, and losses to the paint finish across the base. The table measures 79.3 cm high, 182 cm wide, and 87 cm deep, with a knee height of 56.5 cm. Practical for placement in a kitchen, dining room, or study, this piece functions well as a dining table, kitchen work table, or desk. The rustic farmhouse design suits both traditional and eclectic interiors, providing a functional surface with ample under-table clearance and storage space within the two front drawers.

A Swedish bakers table is a 19th-century utilitarian worktable designed primarily for bread making and food preparation. These tables typically feature a scrubbed pine top, frieze drawers for storing baking tools, and a painted pine base frame.

Softwoods such as pine and spruce were predominantly used due to their abundance in Scandinavia. Surfaces were often left scrubbed or painted with milk paint or oil-based pigments in shades of blue, grey, ochre, and white.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, wooden peg construction, natural timber shrinkage around panel joints, and layered, uneven wear on the paintwork consistent with historical usage.

A rustic bakers table functions well as a kitchen island, side sideboard, or prep counter in modern or country-style interiors. Pairing the distressed painted base with clean contemporary ceramics or brass metalwork creates a balanced visual contrast.

Distressed original paint should be kept away from direct heat sources and high humidity. Cleaning should be done with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scrubbers that could strip historical paint layers.
