Meissen, established in Germany in the early 18th century, was the first European manufacturer of hard-paste porcelain, renowned for its highly detailed figural sculptures and distinct crossed swords mark.

These figures are crafted from high-fired hard-paste porcelain, shaped using detailed moulds, and meticulously hand-painted with polychrome enamel pigments and gilded accents.

Authentic pieces typically feature the underglaze blue crossed swords mark on the base, along with crisp modelling, fine hand-painting details, and appropriate signs of age in the glaze.

They can be displayed as focal points on a mantelpiece, inside a glass-fronted cabinet, or atop a side table to add a touch of historical character and refined colour to a room.

Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, dust gently with a soft, dry brush, and avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or water immersion.
