We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Grand Tour roundels originated during the 18th and 19th centuries when wealthy young Europeans travelled the continent to collect classical antiquities, miniature sculptures, and plaster casts as cultural mementoes.

These decorative objects were traditionally cast in plaster of Paris, stucco, or terracotta, often replicating famous marble sculptures, reliefs, and cameos found in Italian museums and archaeological sites.

Authentication involves examining the material density, natural ageing signs such as surface patination and minor chipping, the crispness of the relief casting, and backing characteristics typical of nineteenth-century production methods.

These pieces can be mounted symmetrically on a panelled wall, displayed on custom stands within a bookcase, or arranged as part of a curated gallery wall alongside modern art to create visual contrast.

Plaster items should be kept away from excessive moisture and direct sunlight. Cleaning must be done exclusively with a soft, dry brush to remove dust, avoiding any water or chemical cleaning agents.
