Art Deco eiderdowns are traditional heavy blankets filled with down or feathers, characterised by geometric patterns, stylistic sunburst stitching, and contrasting borders popular during the 1920s and 1930s.

These quilts typically feature outer shells made of silk, satin, or sateen fabric, bordered with printed cottons, and stuffed with natural waterfowl feathers or eiderdown for warmth.

Authentic pieces often display characteristic geometric quilting patterns like fan or sunburst motifs, hand-stitched detailing, and period-specific fabric designs combined with substantial feather weight.

Drape the quilt casually across the foot of a neutral-toned bed to highlight its historical pattern and add tactile texture to contemporary sleeping spaces.

Keep vintage eiderdowns out of direct sunlight to prevent fabric degradation, air them out regularly in dry conditions, and avoid washing in standard machines; professional textile cleaning is recommended.
