FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in Britain during the late 19th century as a reaction against mass production, championing traditional craftsmanship, high-quality natural materials, and simple utility.

Authentic period tables of this style were constructed primarily from domestic hardwoods such as oak, elm, and occasionally walnut, selected for their structural durability and distinct grain patterns.

Authentic pieces typically feature visible handcrafted joinery such as pegged mortise and tenon joints, honest construction methods, solid timber construction, and a lack of excessive machine ornamentation.

Pairing a historic wooden table with contemporary minimalist seating or industrial lighting creates a balanced juxtaposition that highlights the craftsmanship of the central piece while maintaining modern functionality.

Preservation involves maintaining stable ambient temperatures and humidity levels away from direct heat sources, applying natural beeswax periodically, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaning agents.
