Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This oriental hardwood nest of three coffee tables originates from 1920 in a Chinese oriental style. The suite has a dark brown colour with an original polish finish, comprising floating panel tops above carved dragon friezes, supported by square legs joined with stretchers. The nesting design allows the pieces to sit together when not in use or separate to provide three table surfaces when required, measuring 71 cm high, 38 cm wide, and 38 cm deep. In a modern interior, the tables function effectively placed at the end of a sofa or distributed around a gentleman's library. The compact stepped arrangement offers flexible display surfaces while maintaining a cohesive look. Each table incorporates traditional joinery details visible in the frame and leg stretchers, suiting both traditional and eclectic living spaces.

Nesting tables gained widespread popularity in 18th and 19th-century cabinetmaking, where Asian craftsmen integrated traditional joinery and carved symbolism with space-saving designs intended for tea service and display.

Traditional pieces are crafted from dense hardwoods such as rosewood, zitan, or padauk using complex mortise and tenon joinery without metal fasteners, often incorporating floating panel tops to allow for natural timber expansion.

Authentic examples feature hand-carved relief details with subtle asymmetry, unrefined underside tooling marks, frame-and-panel construction, and natural patination within the recessed areas of the carving.

Position the graduated tables in a stepped arrangement beside an armchair to create visual depth, or separate them across a living area when additional surface space is required for entertaining.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth along the carved relief, avoiding central heating proximity to prevent timber shrinkage, and applying beeswax sparingly to retain the natural lustre.
