Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain is a type of Japanese export porcelain produced in the town of Arita, in the former Hizen Province, and shipped from the port of Imari. It gained prominence during the Edo period in the 17th century for its vibrant underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, and gold palette.

Imari pieces are crafted from high-fired kaolin clay, painted by hand using cobalt blue under the glaze, followed by a second firing with iron-red, green, turquoise, and gilt enamels applied over the glaze.

Authentic antique pieces typically exhibit hand-thrown characteristics such as foot ring imperfections, spur marks on the base, variations in the cobalt blue tone, and characteristic wear on the overglaze enamels and gilding consistent with age.

These decorative plates can be displayed vertically using specialized wall hangers as part of a gallery arrangement, or mounted horizontally on stands atop a sideboard or console table to introduce rich colour and pattern.

Antique porcelain should be cleaned by hand using lukewarm water and a mild, neutral detergent, avoiding abrasive cloths, harsh chemicals, and immersion in water for extended periods to protect fragile overglaze gilding and enamels.
