Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Meissen porcelain figure groups depicting classical and mythological themes became prominent during the 18th and 19th centuries in Germany. Modeled by sculptors such as Johann Joachim Kandler, these multi-figure arrangements drew inspiration from Greco-Roman mythology, classical theatre, and allegorical subjects to serve as decorative centrepieces.

These figures were manufactured using hard-paste porcelain, a mixture of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz fired at high temperatures. Individual components were cast in separate plaster moulds, hand-assembled with liquid slip, fired, and subsequently decorated with overglaze enamel colours and gilded details.

Authentic Meissen pieces feature the underglaze cobalt blue crossed swords mark on the base. Nineteeth-century examples often include impressed model numbers, incised painter marks, fine hand-painted details, and high-density porcelain body paste without visible mold seams.

A porcelain figure group can be displayed on a mantelpiece, placed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, or positioned on a sideboard. Surrounding the object with minimal, modern accessories highlights its complex form and historical character without visual clutter.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry camel-hair brush, avoiding abrasive clothes or stiff bristles. To prevent paint degradation or gilding damage, do not submerge the item in water or apply chemical solvent cleaners.
