Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This monumental nineteenth-century Japanese Meiji period porcelain lidded palace vase displays a white ground with cobalt blue hand-painted decoration. The surface shows a detailed avian motif featuring exotic birds among bamboo shoots, blossom trees, and clouds, complemented by floral scrolling borders. A domed lid sits atop the body, finished with a reticulated finial shaped like an openwork bud. The piece stands 190 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 70 cm deep. Positioned on the floor, the vessel is suited for placement in an empty corner of a grand room to act as a focal display object. The porcelain construction has a smooth glazed finish with classical decorative panels around the lower base and shoulder.

Produced during the late Edo and Meiji periods, these oversized porcelain vessels were crafted primarily for architectural display in grand halls or for export to Europe and Western markets. They feature intricate underglaze cobalt painting depicting flora, fauna, and traditional mythology.

These vessels were formed from high-grade kaolin clay and painted by hand using cobalt oxide pigment before receiving a clear glaze. Due to their scale, they were thrown in multiple stacked sections and fired at temperatures exceeding 1,200 degrees Celsius.

Authentic pieces display subtle variations in cobalt intensity, visible brushwork under the glaze, unglazed firing foot rims showing fine white porcelain clay, and occasionally maker marks or studio stamps painted on the base.

In modern interiors, a palace vase functions as an architectural focal point. It is best positioned in high-ceilinged spaces such as grand foyers, large stairwells, or empty corners to add scale, historical texture, and classic colour contrast.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth or feather duster. Avoid liquid immersion or abrasive chemical cleaners, and always lift the piece by supporting the base and lower body rather than the handles, neck, or lid finial.
