Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century card table comes in the Louis XVI style and the manner of Linke. Made from warm brown kingwood and satinwood, the piece presents a demilune top and a frieze decorated with geometric parquetry inlay, gilded ormolu mouldings, and a central gilt-bronze floral mask. Slender cabriole legs support the structure, finishing in detailed claw feet with additional ormolu mounts positioned at the knees. Measuring 79 cm high, 84 cm wide, and 42 cm deep, the table suits placement beside the front door or within a hallway or drawing room as a decorative console surface. The top hinges open for functional use, offering versatility in a classic home interior.

FAQs

Louis XVI style furniture is distinguished by Neoclassical influences, geometric symmetry, straight or slender curved legs, and classical ornamentation such as floral swags and gilt-bronze mounts.

These tables typically feature timber veneers such as kingwood, tulipwood, satinwood, or rosewood arranged in geometric parquetry patterns, trimmed with gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts.

Look for hand-chased gilt-bronze mounts, precise timber veneers applied over solid oak or pine carcases, traditional joinery, and natural oxidation on the underside and feet.

Position the closed table against a wall as a demilune console in an entryway or living room, paired with a modern mirror or abstract artwork above to create contrast.

Keep the piece away from direct heat and sunlight to prevent veneer movement or lifting. Clean surfaces using a dry microfibre cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly.
