Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pair of nineteenth-century Victorian ironstone ceramic tureens with matching domed lids, rendered in a multicolour palette, sits ready for display. Each piece displays hand-painted floral enamel motifs featuring large pink and orange blooms, complemented by cobalt blue handles, gilded rims, and a moulded footed base. The glossy ceramic glaze reflects light across the detailed enamel decoration, while gold leaf highlights the edges and the arched finials on top of the lids. Numbered 3 and 455, these decorative vessels work well placed upon a dining room sideboard top or within an English country house interior setting to bring historical character to a modern home.

Ironstone china is a vitreous ceramic material developed in early 19th-century England as a durable alternative to porcelain.

Ironstone consists of clay mixed with ground flint and slag, which is fired at high heat and often finished with hand-painted enamels, transfer prints, and gilt highlights.

Authentic pieces generally feature makers marks stamped on the base, a heavy weight relative to porcelain, slight blue-grey tones in the glaze, and light wear to the unglazed foot rim.

These decorative vessels function well as centrepieces on dining tables, accent pieces on sideboards, or display items within glazed cabinets.

Wash items by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive pads or dishwashers that could damage overglaze enamels and gilding.
