Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chinese Imari porcelain refers to export ceramics produced in China during the 18th century that adopted the colour scheme of Japanese Imari wares. Manufactured primarily in Jingdezhen, these pieces featured underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron-red enamel, and gold embellishments tailored for European export markets.

These dishes were thrown or moulded using kaolin clay, fired initially with underglaze cobalt blue decoration, and glazed. Secondary firings at lower temperatures were then conducted in muffle kilns to set the overglaze iron-red enamels and liquid gold details.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-painted brushwork with slight irregularities, uneven glaze thickness, foot rims showing unglazed porcelain with pinholes or kiln debris, and characteristic wear to overglaze gilding and enamels from handling over time.

Small porcelain dishes can be displayed upright on wood easel stands inside glazed cabinets, wall-mounted in symmetrical groupings using wire plate hangers, or arranged flat on sideboard tray setups alongside contemporary brass and glass decor.

Dust gently using a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth. Avoid immersion in water or abrasive chemical cleaners, as harsh washing can strip or degrade delicate overglaze enamel decoration and historic gilding.
