This fine and attractive cast iron stretcher table would most probably have been used in a conservatory, orangery, or garden in the middle of the 19th Century. What''s particularly nice about this example, is that it retains its original cast iron top - and if you look underneath (see image) you can see the outline of the original diamond registration mark and the maker''s name, which, most probably would have read C B Dale. Due to weathering, the lettering is now illegible but it is a lovely indication of its originality. The table is in good condition with no cracks or breaks to the cast iron and its structure is rigid - however, one of the eight original cast iron bolts that secure the top to the base is missing.
