N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this Antique Bronze Monkey Inkwell to the 19th Century.
The monkeys head then lifts up to reveal the inkwell which has its original opaque glass liner. The log then branches out in front of the monkey with the branches being used to hold pens / quills. The monkey is then holding what I believe to be a candle holder in its right hand which may have been used to melt wax used for sealing early letters.

The piece is absolutely stunning and one of the best and largest examples of an early antique bronze desk tidy that I have ever seen!
A truly one off and unusual piece that would look fantastic in any home or as part of a larger collection!
It measures approximately:
7” / 18cm Tall.
6” / 15.25cm Wide.
