The Life of Benvenuto Cellini written by himself and translated in-to English by John Addington Symonds (1840-1893) an English poet, literary critic and cultural historian known for his work on the renaissance as well as numerous biographies of writers and artists. Finely bound by Hatchards of London in brown crushed half morocco with cloth boards. The gilt decorated spine is arranged as 6 compartments by 5 raised bands and the top page edges are gilt. Mezzotint portrait as frontispiece and 9 illustrations of the artist’s work. Tightly bound and clean with negligible wear and minor marks. A fine copy. 5th Edition published in 1905 by MacMillan and Co. 20.3 cm high, 14.2 cm deep and 4 cm wide. Unpackaged weight some 0.8 kg.
