A Large Brass Observation Telescope

1900 - 1920
Description

A large brass terrestrial/astronomical telescope by A Bardou Paris. In full working order and ideal for observing the moon or distant land/maritime objects. The 3'' objective lens together with the two available eyepieces produce clear images. The telescope traverses horizontally and vertically smoothly and is easy to focus. A Bardou was a well regarded maker working from the middle part of the 19thC. This telescope dates from the early part of the 20thC (Circa 1910) and is stamped with the makers name on the end of the large barrel. The original eyepiece is well able to view the moons craters and other astronomical subjects. The adapted modern erecting eyepiece produces a much larger image to view both terrestrial and astronomical objects. There are dents and scratches to the brass tubes but these just reflect general use during its passage through time.

About 115 cm long in normal use with the brass barrel 8 cm in diameter.

Stands about 175 cm high with the telescope at horizontal.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
