Rare Large Lowestoft Porcelain Polychrome Tankard 1775

£975    $1,235    €1,173
A Lowestoft porcelain cylindrical polychrome tankard circa 1775. The body is decorated with a large urn and sprigs of flowers. There is a scrolling gilded edged boarder to the top. The handle is of typical Lowestoft shape and decorated.

The tankard was from the James Comyn''s collect. James was one of the most avid Suffolk based collectors of Lowestoft porcelain. We had sold several pieces to James prior to his death. His collection had a full Doll House tea service which was his pride and joy.

The piece is in good condition. There is some internal blemishing to the under glaze porcelain and kiln smuts to the top of the handle. Both very common in Lowestoft porcelain.
