Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A famille rose chestnut basket is an 18th-century Chinese export porcelain vessel characterised by intricate pierced or reticulated lattice walls and a matching undertray. Produced during the Qing Dynasty for Western markets, these pieces were designed to serve warm chestnuts or fruit at formal dinner tables.

These vessels were formed from kaolin porcelain clay, hand-pierced while the clay was leather-hard prior to firing. They were subsequently decorated using famille rose overglaze enamelsfeaturing opaque pink, green, and blue pigmentsand finished with hand-applied gilding and custom monograms.

Authentic late 18th-century export porcelain features subtle hand-crafting irregularities, orange-peel texture on glazed unpainted surfaces, and rubbing to gilded or enamelled areas consistent with age. Furthermore, hand-carved lattice cut-outs exhibit minor variations rather than uniform modern machine precision.

Displaying reticulated export porcelain as a focal centrepiece on a dining table or console highlights its geometric cut-outs and vibrant polychrome decoration. It can also be arranged within a glass cabinet alongside period glassware or classical ceramic collections to add historical contrast.

Clean delicate reticulated porcelain gently using a dry microfibre brush or lukewarm water with mild, neutral soap, avoiding prolonged submersion. Avoid harsh chemical cleansers or abrasive pads, as these can strip original gilding and delicate enamel decoration.
