Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Four Seasons allegorical groups were originally sculpted in the 18th century by master modeller Johann Joachim Kandler for the Meissen manufactory in Saxony. Representing Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter through cherubs or putti with season-specific attributes, these classical designs gained widespread popularity and continued to be produced throughout the 19th century.

These figures were crafted from hard-paste porcelain, composed of china clay (kaolin) and alabaster or feldspar. The individual elements were cast in press moulds, assembled by hand, fired at high temperatures, and subsequently detailed with multi-coloured enamel pigments and hand-applied gilt highlights.

Authentic pieces feature the underglaze cobalt blue crossed swords mark on the underside, often accompanied by impressed model numbers, painter marks, and incised numerals. High-grade surface modelling, precise facial detail, delicate finger formation, and finely executed enamel work are key physical indicators of genuine Meissen craftsmanship.

These detailed figural groups work effectively when displayed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, centered on a fireplace mantelpiece, or curated atop a dark timber sideboard. Pairing fine 19th-century porcelain with understated modern backdrops allows the intricate colourwork and sculpted forms to serve as focal points.

Dust regularly using a soft artists brush or microfibre cloth to clean delicate crevices without snagging. If washing is necessary, use lukewarm water with a mild, neutral soap, avoiding prolonged immersion, harsh detergents, or abrasive materials that could erode gilding or surface enamel.
