This large mahogany breakfast table and centre table dates from 1850 in the Grand Regency style. It has a warm brown colour with a striking flame mahogany veneer on the circular top and shows normal marks and scuffs commensurate with age and use, alongside some minor veneer chips to the base. The construction features a tilt-top mechanism mounted on a substantial faceted support that leads down to curved scroll feet on a triform base. The piece has a visible vertical tilt configuration in current display, with the wood grain running vertically across the face of the circular top. Practical proportions make the table 74 cm high, 132 cm wide, and 132 cm deep. Daily placement suits a spacious dining room, grand hallway, or central library space where the tilt-top function allows versatile storage and presentation options when not in active use.
