This late Georgian dining table dates from around 1820 and seats up to eight people. Formed from mahogany with a warm brown timber finish, the piece follows a classic English country house style. The rectangular top has rounded corners, a moulded edge, and a shallow lip underneath, paired with an original brass catch. A turned central pedestal supports the structure, resting upon four splayed, moulded legs that terminate in carved scroll feet with brass castors. The timber displays a deep colour and patination, reflecting traditional waxing methods. The table measures 74 cm high, 149.8 cm wide, and 144.8 cm deep. Suitable for a dining room or a spacious kitchen, it provides a functional surface for family meals and gatherings.

Late Georgian tilt top dining tables, dating from the early 19th century, feature space-saving tilting tops mounted on a central turned pedestal with splayed legs and brass castors.

These tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany or rich mahogany veneers, featuring solid brass hinges, catches, and castors on hand-carved pedestal supports.

Look for authentic early 19th-century construction details, such as hand-cut brass latch mechanisms under the tabletop, original brass cup castors, and hand-planed timber undersides.

Pair a rich mahogany table with contemporary upholstered dining chairs or sleek metal frames to create an eclectic contrast between historical craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually along the grain, keeping the table away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
