This Regency style 1930 mahogany oval dining table exhibits warm brown timber tones and a tilt-top mechanism. The circular top features a fine crossbanded border of boxwood, rosewood, ebony and tulip wood, retaining its original finish with signs of use and a small missing white line. The central pedestal base stands on finely turned gun barrel reeded pedestal legs terminating in brass bucket castors. Measuring 72 cm high, 214 cm wide and 145 cm deep, this solid table seats eight to ten people comfortably. It serves as a dining table in a home dining room, accommodating everyday meals and large family gatherings.

A tilt-top table features a hinged top mechanism attached to a central pedestal, allowing the tabletop to pivot vertically when not in use to save space along a room perimeter.

Regency dining tables were typically constructed from solid mahogany, featuring decorative veneers such as rosewood or satinwood for crossbanding, alongside brass fittings and castors.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut brass catch mechanisms, natural age wear on the underside of the top, hand-turned pedestal columns, and original iron or brass castors.

An antique table can be paired with contemporary dining chairs, placed under a modern pendant light, or positioned as a central foyer table to anchor a grand entryway.

Clean the surface regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, apply beeswax sparingly along the wood grain twice yearly, and keep the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent veneer movement.
