Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.

Pairing historical timber pieces with modern minimalist decor creates a sophisticated contrast, allowing the craftsmanship and rich grain of the wood to serve as a focal point.

Authentic pieces exhibit period construction techniques such as hand-cut dovetails on the drawers, traditional timber shrinkage, hand-forged or cast brass hardware, and natural patination accumulated over centuries.

Cabinet makers of this era predominantly utilised dense imported hardwoods like mahogany, often incorporating secondary woods such as pine or oak for drawer linings and internal framing.

Late Georgian furniture, spanning the late 18th and early 19th centuries, typically features refined classical proportions, cleaner lines than earlier baroque periods, and a shift towards neoclassical influences.
