Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian side table is fashioned from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and stands on small brass castors fitted with white ceramic wheels. The square piece follows a two-tier shelf design, incorporating a main top surface and a lower open shelf supported by four vertically oriented, turned legs. Each column features decorative turned knops near the upper section, and the table corners terminate in small raised finials above the main surface. The surfaces show minor signs of surface wear and historic use consistent with the late nineteenth-century period. Measuring 57 cm high, 49 cm wide, and 49 cm deep, the table sits at a convenient height for everyday domestic use. It fits well in a living room arrangement positioned at the end of a sofa to hold drinks, books, or lamps, and suits an English Country House interior aesthetic.

FAQs

Late Victorian side tables, produced between 1880 and 1901, frequently feature multi-tiered designs, turned columns, and functional mobility via castors. They were constructed for practical versatility in suburban drawing rooms and bedrooms.

Solid mahogany and mahogany veneers were widely selected for their rich grain and durability. Internal framing used traditional mortise and tenon joinery, complemented by metal or ceramic castors.

Authentic pieces display period construction markers such as hand-finished turned uprights, age-appropriate wear to timber surfaces, and traditional castor fittings beneath the feet.

Position the table beside a sofa or armchair to add dark wood contrast against lighter upholstery. Balance the surface with structured ceramic lamps, contemporary books, or minimal glass vessels.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage or finish deterioration. Dust regularly using a dry microfiber cloth and wax periodically with natural beeswax.
