Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Anglo-Burmese furniture refers to 19th and early 20th-century wooden pieces produced in Burma for Western export and British colonial residents. It is defined by intricate, deeply carved foliate motifs, pierced aprons, and dense native hardwoods like teak.

Burmese craftsmen primarily used native teak or padauk wood, known for their density, durability, and resistance to warping. These woods permitted intricate openwork carving, pierced aprons, and detailed figurative sculpture on pedestal stems and bases.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved undercut relief, featuring floral vines, peacock motifs, or mythical creatures such as chinthes. Look for traditional joinery, rich dark patination, dense teak wood construction, and subtle variations from hand tooling.

A carved Burmese table serves as a strong focal point when paired with understated contemporary seating. Place it as an occasional table beside a neutral sofa or within a reading nook to allow the sculptural wood carving to contrast against plain walls.

Dust the delicate pierced carvings regularly using a soft brush or vacuum with a gentle brush attachment. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the timber finish, avoiding liquid polish build-up in deep crevices.
