Description

This is a very rare and unusual toy shop window display.

Farther Xmas riding a reindeer which rocks back and forth on a stand with a heavy pendulum-type weight which keeps it rocking for some time .

The raindeers head goes up and down farther Xmas head and arms move with the rocking.

I have been told it was in a shop in Alnwick Northumberland and used up to the 1960sthen stored in the basement until recently.

I can send a video of it working if you're very interested.

It is big standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall and 3 feet 8 inches wide.

I have not done anything to clean it just exactly as I bought it.

The price is £1500 and I'm not interested in offers for anything less.

The pictures show the tail as green but it's white, when I put the background colour in to show it better it changed the tail colour !!!.

I think it's circa 1900 to 1920.

It is all metal apart from the reins.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Vintage shop displays typically feature hand-painted wooden construction and mechanical or kinetic elements designed to attract customers to retail windows.

These pieces were generally constructed using carved timber, metal armatures, and lead-based or oil paints applied by hand.

Authenticity is determined by genuine paint wear, hand-tooled construction marks, patination on the metal components, and historical construction techniques.

Positioning the piece as a focal point in a spacious hallway or eclectic living area highlights its sculptural qualities and historical character.

Preservation requires keeping the item in a stable environment away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to protect the original pigments and timber.
