Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from the Kashmir region in northern India during the late 19th century, these tables feature detailed turned wooden or papier-mache bases decorated with intricate hand-painted foliage and floral lacquerwork.

Traditional Kashmiri lacquerware furniture typically incorporates dense turned softwoods or molded papier-mache layers, coated in multiple layers of protective natural lacquer and detailed with gold leaf or pigment paintwork.

Authentic pieces display hand-executed brushwork with slight natural variations, surface craquelure within the varnish layer, and traditional structural joinery on the turned central column and tripod legs.

Place the table alongside contemporary tailored seating to allow the intricate pattern to contrast against plain upholstery fabrics, serving as a functional accent piece.

Maintain lacquered surfaces by dusting gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth, keeping the item away from direct sunlight, radiator heat, and moist environments to prevent varnish cracking.
