Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Painted religious glass panels originated in medieval Europe as a dominant form of pictorial narrative in ecclesiastical settings. Technique evolved from simple metallic oxide line work to sophisticated enamel painting and silver stain application, reaching renewed popularity during nineteenth-century revival movements.

Traditional construction relies on mouth-blown coloured or clear glass painted with vitreous enamels composed of ground glass and metallic oxides. The glass sections are bound together using H-shaped lead strips called cames, soldered at the junctions, and sealed with waterproof putty.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age including natural oxidisation on the lead cames, slight irregularities in glass thickness, and hand-applied brushwork visible under magnification. Wear or minor surface scratching on fired enamel paint also indicates historical production rather than modern screen printing.

These panels can be positioned in front of existing double-glazed windows using light hanging chains to catch natural sunlight without altering permanent joinery. Alternatively, mounting the panel inside a custom LED lightbox creates an illuminated wall display suitable for darker rooms.

Glass surfaces should be cleaned gently using distilled water and soft microfibre cloths, avoiding chemical cleaners or abrasive agents that may damage paint layers. Inspect the lead came structure periodically for flexibility or sagging, ensuring the panel remains supported in a stable wooden or metal border.
