Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Sheraton Revival centre table originates from 1910 and belongs to the English Country House style. Constructed from warm gold satinwood with brass hardware, the piece presents an oval top with radiating veneer segments, hand-painted polychrome floral garlands, harebells, ribbons, six miniature portraits of classical figures, and a central oval panel depicting cherubs. The frame incorporates square tapered legs, a curved X-form stretcher, and brass castors. The piece stands 76 cm high, 100 cm wide, and 76 cm deep. Placed in a home today, the table suits a foyer center as a decorative surface. The polished timber finish reflects light, while the slender legs and stretchers create an open silhouette against interior walls.

FAQs

Sheraton Revival emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing inspiration from the 18th-century cabinetmaker Thomas Sheraton. The style is characterised by geometric shapes, light proportions, slender tapered legs, fine satinwood veneers, and classical decorative elements such as painted garlands and medallions.

These tables were typically constructed from satinwood, mahogany, or harewood veneers over sturdy oak or pine frames. Decorative embellishments relied on polychrome hand-painted motifs, marquetry inlays, and polished brass castors on the foot terminals.

Authentic pieces exhibit refined craftsmanship, including fine dovetail joints, original brass castors, and hand-painted detail showing slight artistic variations rather than modern stencilling. The underside often reveals period timber shrinkage and natural oxidisation.

A painted satinwood centre table functions exceptionally well as a focal point in a formal entryway or grand hallway. It can also serve as an elegant occasional table in a living room paired with neutral, contemporary upholstery to highlight its intricate paintwork.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to protect the delicate paint layer and veneer from cracking or lifting. Clean the surface gently using a dry microfibre cloth, and avoid commercial liquid polishes or water.
