Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the early 19th century, a Regency work table is a compact piece of occasional furniture designed primarily for storing needlework, embroidery, and crafting supplies. These tables typically feature drop leaves, small drawers, and a fabric-lined basket or well suspended beneath the tabletop.

High-grade timbers such as rosewood, mahogany, and zebrawood were commonly used, often featuring brass turned supports or inlays. Construction included dovetail-jointed drawers, quadripartite pedestal bases, and pleated silk or damask fabric wells designed to hold textiles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit distinct structural traits such as heavily figured rosewood veneers, a central pedestal stem resting on a concave plinth or swept legs, and original brass castors. Hand-cut dovetail joinery inside drawers and age-appropriate wear to timber surfaces help verify age.

These compact tables function effectively as sofa side tables, bedside stands, or decorative accent pieces in hallways. Placing a small table lamp or ceramic object on the top surface creates a functional blend of historic craftsmanship and modern living.

Position rosewood furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking, drying, or colour fading. Dust surfaces regularly with a dry soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the natural finish.
