This Victorian sofa table dates from 1860 in the English Country House style and is made from solid mahogany in a warm brown timber colour with a fine finish. The piece comprises a shaped drop-leaf top with a half-round moulded edge, two frieze drawers with recessed panelled fronts and small round turned wooden knobs, and a full-width recessed panel on the reverse side. The support structure includes twin leaf-carved and reeded end supports on carved scrolled legs fitted with castors, connected by an acanthus-carved turned central stretcher held by carved swan-neck supports with end carved finials. The table measures 73.6601 cm high, 91.4402 cm wide, and 64.7701 cm deep. It is suited for placement at the back of a sofa in a living room, study, or drawing room to provide surface space and enclosed drawer storage.
