Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian desk calendar takes the form of a freestanding architectural structure in solid figured oak with a warm brown finish. The upper section has a swept arched top and moulded edges framing a central aperture for the day of the week, while the main body displays a larger central window for the numeric date above a lower opening showing the month. Small turned wooden adjustment knobs project from both sides to operate the internal printed linen spools. The entire piece rests on a chamfered plinth base and retains a rich polished surface. It measures 15 cm high, 11.5 cm wide and 6.5 cm deep. Placed on an office desk, home study table or library bookcase, it provides a functional method for tracking dates while adding traditional character to a workspace.

FAQs

An antique perpetual desk calendar is a mechanical tabletop datekeeper designed to be manually updated daily, allowing continuous use year after year without replacement.

These calendars were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring internal cloth or paper rollers controlled by turned side knobs.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct timber joinery, clear wood grain, printed linen or paper date bands, and hand-turned wooden side pegs showing minor age-consistent wear.

Place the piece on a home office desk, study bookshelf, or mantlepiece alongside brass desk lighting or dark timber furnishings to create a classic focal point.

Dust the wooden housing with a soft, dry cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly to preserve the timber finish, avoiding liquid cleaners near the internal fabric or paper scrolls.
