Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 20th-century Spanish regional refectory table displays a scrubbed natural oak timber top with breadboard ends, supported by carved trestle legs. A central curved wrought iron scroll stretcher connects the base, providing structural stability while adding decorative contrast to the light wood tones. The piece measures 77 cm high by 86 cm wide and 230 cm long, with a capacity to seat eight people comfortably. Positioned in a dining room or kitchen, the table brings rustic farmhouse character to everyday family meals and gatherings. The combination of warm scrubbed oak and dark metalwork integrates smoothly into both traditional and contemporary interiors as a practical surface for daily dining and entertaining.

FAQs

A Spanish refectory table is a long, narrow dining table historically used in monastery dining halls, characterised by solid timber construction, carved trestle legs, and decorative wrought iron stretchers.

These tables are constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or walnut, fitted using traditional joinery techniques and reinforced with hand-forged wrought ironwork.

Authentic examples feature hand-forged ironwork with structural variations, hand-planed or scrubbed timber surfaces, original mortise and tenon joinery, and wear around the trestle base.

A rustic oak refectory table pairs with contemporary dining seating, neutral linen table runners, and understated ceramic tableware to complement the architectural ironwork and wood grain.

Scrubbed oak surfaces should be dusted with a dry cloth and kept free from standing liquid. Application of a clear beeswax wax polish helps protect the unsealed grain without altering the natural tone.
