Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Regency drop-leaf side tables typically feature clean architectural lines, high-grade veneers such as rosewood or mahogany, and functional hinged flaps supported by fly-brackets. They frequently incorporate decorative brasswork, including mesh grilles, lion-mask handles, or brass castors on tapered legs.

These pieces were commonly constructed using a solid timber frame faced with exotic veneers like rosewood or mahogany. The lower cupboard doors featured woven or stamped brass wire grilles, often backed with fabric, alongside solid brass hardware and castors.

Authentic 19th-century rosewood furniture displays distinct grain patterns with dark streaks ranging from deep brown to reddish hues. Original construction methods include hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, traditional timber drawer linings, and cast brass fittings displaying subtle natural oxidisation.

A pair of drop-leaf side tables works effectively placed at either end of a contemporary sofa or utilised as oversized bedside tables. Extending one or both flaps provides additional surface area for table lamps and books without permanently enlarging the room footprint.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the timber finish. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners on the brass grilles, and ensure the tables are kept away from direct heat sources or intense sunlight to prevent veneer movement.
