Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco dining furniture from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by bold geometric shapes, clean lines, and symmetrical forms. Craftsmen frequently incorporated highly decorative timber veneers, such as burr walnut or macassar ebony, alongside polished finishes to create striking visual contrast.

These suites were typically built using solid hardwood frames overlaid with exotic or highly figured wood veneers, such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood. Seating was commonly upholstered in leather, faux leather, or heavy woven textiles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-matched veneer grain patterns, traditional joinery techniques like dovetails or mortise-and-tenon joints, and period-correct underside construction. Original finishes often display natural patina and subtle crazing in the varnish over time.

A period dining set can be integrated into a contemporary space by surrounding it with neutral wall palettes, geometric rugs, and brass or chrome lighting fixtures. The warm tones of figured walnut complement modern minimalist architectural elements.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the direction of the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting or fading.
