This nineteenth-century harvest jug adopts a rustic farmhouse style, shaped with a tapered body, a curved metal handle, and a distinct pour spout. Staved oak construction defines the dark brown timber body, strengthened by heavy wrought iron strapping and secured with visible rivets. The vessel stands 46 cm high, showing genuine patination and age-related wear across the wooden staves and metalwork. Positioned on a sideboard top, this piece functions well for interior display within country-style living spaces. Its neutral dark tones integrate easily into traditional decorative arrangements while serving as a standalone decorative object in a dining room or hallway.

An oak harvest jug, traditionally crafted using coopering techniques, was a vessel used by farm workers in the 18th and 19th centuries to carry cider, beer, or water into the fields during harvest time.

These jugs were constructed using tapered timber staves, typically oak, bound tightly together with wrought iron or wooden hoops to create a watertight container with an integrated spout and metal handle.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-forged wrought iron strapping, hand-cut metal rivets, natural wear patterns along the base, and aged patina on the stave joints consistent with historical liquid containment.

Place the vessel on a kitchen island, sideboard top, or open shelving unit to add architectural warmth, rustic texture, and a sense of historical craftsmanship to modern or farmhouse spaces.

Keep the vessel in a climate-controlled environment away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage, and clean dry surfaces gently with a soft cloth and natural wax polish.
