This late 19th-century Regency-style dining table is constructed from dark brown Santos mahogany with a polished finish and inlaid crossbanding along the D-end top border. The piece rests on a triple pedestal base with ring-turned baluster pods and swept sabre legs that terminate in brass lion paw toe caps and castors. Hand-carved details and a rich wood grain patination are visible across the surfaces. Measuring 73.5 cm high, 114.5 cm wide and 340 cm deep, the table seats up to twelve people and includes three interchangeable extension leaves. It serves as a large dining table in a formal dining room for hosting guests during meals.

A D-end pedestal dining table features semi-circular end sections combined with central column bases, offering generous seating capacity and flexible configurations for formal dining rooms.

Late 19th-century dining tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often decorated with satinwood or boxwood stringing inlay and supported by cast brass castors.

Look for hand-finished timber grain, original brass claw feet with functional castors, reeded or turned pedestal legs, and subtle age-appropriate wear along the leaf joins and table edges.

Pair a rich mahogany table with contemporary upholstered dining chairs or minimalist lighting fixtures to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Keep the wood surface clean by dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, protect the French polish or wax finish from heat and liquids using mats, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year.
