This Georgian dessert dish originates from the 18th century and consists of soft-paste porcelain with a white glaze and cobalt blue underglaze decoration. The shape is lobed and square with a scalloped edge, and the piece rests on a clear plastic display stand in the visual record. Painted details include a central carnation motif, scattered floral sprigs, insects, and minor bleeding of the blue pigment at the rim from manufacture. The dimensions measure 21.6 cm wide and 3.5 cm high. Placement suits a sideboard top within an English Country House interior setting, functioning as a decorative serving dish for display. The soft-paste porcelain construction carries minimal handling wear while maintaining a clean, glazed finish across all surfaces.

First Period Worcester porcelain refers to items produced at the Worcester factory between 1751 and 1783 under the direction of Dr John Wall. These pieces are notable for their soft-paste porcelain body containing soapstone, which made them resistant to thermal shock.

Eighteenth-century Worcester pieces were crafted from a soft-paste porcelain mixture incorporating steatite, or soapstone, mined in Cornwall. Surface designs were either hand-painted or transfer-printed using cobalt oxide for underglaze blue decoration.

Authentic pieces often feature a greenish or yellowish translucency when held to light due to the soapstone content. They frequently bear underglaze blue marks on the underside, such as a crescent, a fretted square, or a painters mark.

Antique blue and white porcelain can be displayed on acrylic or wooden stands on a sideboard, mounted in symmetrical wall groupings, or housed inside a traditional glazed display cabinet against a neutral backdrop.

Clean soft-paste porcelain by hand using lukewarm water, a mild non-abrasive soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid immersion for extended periods, heat sources, and automated dishwashers to prevent glaze damage or stress fractures.
