This pair of Victorian statues depicts classical maidens in draped garments standing upon circular integrally moulded plinths. The figures are formed from white parian ware biscuit porcelain with a smooth unglazed finish. The left maiden wears a hooded veil and carries a sculpted urn in her arms, while the right figure raises one hand to her head with fabric gathered across her body. Both sculptures capture traditional mythological drapery and fine facial expressions characteristic of nineteenth-century classical revival decorative art. Each figurine stands on a tiered circular base. These decorative ornaments measure 30 cm in height. They suit placement upon a mantelpiece, sideboard, or display shelf within a traditional interior scheme. The neutral white porcelain tone integrates easily with existing household accessories and complements various room colour palettes. Collectors of Victorian porcelain and classical figures will find these statues appropriate for mantel display or cabinet placement.

Parian ware is a type of unglazed biscuit porcelain developed in England around 1842, specifically formulated to simulate the appearance of carved Parian marble from the Greek island of Paros.

Parian ware is produced by casting liquid porcelain slip containing a high proportion of feldspar into plaster moulds, allowing high detail to be captured without requiring a surface glaze.

Authentic 19th-century Parian ware features a smooth, silky, semi-translucent finish with crisp moulding detail, soft white or ivory tones, and an unglazed ceramic texture.

Display Parian ware figures on dark timber surfaces, such as a mahogany mantelpiece or a dark oak sideboard, to create strong visual contrast against their white marble-like finish.

Dust unglazed Parian porcelain regularly with a dry, soft-bristled brush, and clean accumulated dirt using cotton swabs moistened with distilled water and mild liquid soap.
