This garden bench originates from 1930 in an English Country Garden style, constructed from reconstituted stone with a grey colour and a weathered finish. The three-piece structure comprises a thick, curved top slab with bevelled edges, resting securely upon two sculpted animal-form pedestal supports. The stone displays authentic surface aging, including natural weathering marks and textural variations across the seat and bases. Measuring 46 cm high, 122 cm long and 38 cm deep, the bench provides a practical seating option for outdoor spaces. It sits comfortably in a garden, patio or courtyard setting, offering a traditional focal point that complements established planting schemes and stone architecture. The durable composition ensures it withstands outdoor environments while maintaining its classic architectural character throughout the seasons.

Curved stone benches originated in classical Greek and Roman garden design, where exedra seating offered sheltered conversational spaces. The design was widely revived during the Renaissance and 18th-century English Landscape Movement to complement formal lawn layouts and circular parterres.

Traditional stone benches are constructed either from carved natural stone, such as limestone or sandstone, or from reconstituted cast stone. Cast stone combines crushed rock with cementitious binders to allow detailed mouldings and durable outdoor performance.

Aged cast stone displays natural weathering features including surface erosion, lichens, moss growth, and faint seam lines from original multi-piece casting moulds. Naturally aged pieces show variable coloration rather than uniform painted or sealed surfaces.

Curved benches are placed at the terminus of garden pathways, along circular patios, or surrounding central features like fountain basins and fire pits. The curved form creates a natural focal point while integrating smoothly into planted borders.

Stone benches should be placed on solid footings or gravel pads to prevent subsidence and water absorption from damp soil. Cleaning should be limited to soft brushing with water, avoiding high-pressure washers or harsh chemicals that strip surface lichens or erode softer reconstituted stone.
