This Victorian stick stand is fashioned from dark brown mahogany with a metal base. The divided upper frame rests above slender turned uprights terminating in corner finials, complemented by a removable metal drip tray below and visible surface wear consistent with age. Measuring 69 cm high, 68 cm wide, and 22.5 cm deep, the piece offers a compact profile suited to narrow spaces. Positioned beside the front door, the stand organises walking sticks and umbrellas in a hallway or boot room. The open frame keeps items visible and accessible for daily use, while the lower tray catches rainwater and dirt before they reach interior floors.

A Victorian stick stand is an entryway furniture piece created during the mid-to-late nineteenth century designed to hold walking sticks, canes, and umbrellas vertically.

Nineteenth-century stick stands were primarily crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, often fitted with iron or zinc drip trays at the base to collect water.

Authentic pieces feature period joinery techniques such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, hand-turned wooden uprights, original patinated metal drip trays, and dense timber typical of nineteenth-century construction.

Position the stick stand near an entryway or front door to provide functional storage for umbrellas or walking canes while adding historical character to tiled or wooden hallway flooring.

Apply natural beeswax polish to the mahogany framework along the grain to protect the timber finish. Ensure the metal drip tray is thoroughly dried after contact with wet umbrellas to prevent corrosion.
